This week’s Torah portion, “Noach” (Noah), is found in Bereshit 6:9. This is a very famous story where G-d saw a corrupt and violent world that He had decided to destroy by a great flood. There was, however, a righteous man named Noach who G‑d instructed to build a large wooden teivah (“ark”) that would shelter Noah, his family, and members of each animal species. After the flood, Noach and his family are told to exit the teivah and repopulate the earth.
How does this story relate to what’s going on in our world today (such as the release of the Israeli hostages)?
What does this have to do with our lives and spiritual journeys?
