Parshah Tetzaveh

This week’s Torah portion is “Tetzaveh,” which means “Command”. It is found in Exodus 27:20 where the L-rd tells Moses to have the children of Israel bring pure olive oil to maintain the eternal flame of the menorah which is lit daily by Aaron. This portion continues by describing the clothing worn by the kohanim (high priests) serving in the Tabernacle (tent of meeting) as well as providing instructions for the seven day initiation of Aaron and his four sons into the priesthood. Why did G-d want the Hebrews to assist in maintaining the eternal flame of the menorah?

Why did G-d tell the Hebrews to use an olive to create oil for the light? Do these commands have meaning for us today? Come join the discussion and find out!

Rabbi Scott is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
