Parshah Tetzaveh
This week’s Torah portion is “Tetzaveh,” which means “Command” and is found in Exodus 27:20–30:10. It focuses on the initiation of the priesthood and the sacred service in the Tabernacle. Key instructions include the L-rd telling Moses to have the children of Israel bring pure olive oil to maintain the eternal flame of the menorah which is lit daily by Aaron. The portion continues by describing the priestly garments worn by the kohanim (high priests) serving in the Tabernacle (tent of meeting) as well as providing instructions for the seven day ordination of Aaron and his four sons into the priesthood.
There are three themes being addressed in this Torah portion.
Bring pure olive oil to keep the eternal flame of the menorah lit.
Prepare Priestly garments for the Kohen Gadol (High Priests).
Initiate the priesthood and the sacred Tabernacle service.
What, if anything, do these things have to do with us today and our Spiritual Journey?
Come join in and let’s get into it!
