This weeks Torah portion is “Toledot,” meaning “Generations.” Here, Isaac and Rebecca are childless for 20 years, until Rebecca conceives. Her pregnancy is difficult as the “children struggle inside her” and G-d tells Rebecca that “there are two nations in your womb” and that the younger will triumph over the elder.
Esau is born first and Jacob follows clutching Esau’s heel. They are opposites striving for their father’s blessing. Does this story have any meaning for us today, in our generation? Please join us this Friday night and join the discussion.
